Mirror Development for Other Missions

In addition to our in-house development of optics for HERO and other applications, the X-ray astronomy group at MSFC is actively involved in the design, development, fabrication, and testing of mirrors for numerous high-energy astrophysics missions and mission concepts.

These include a proposed hard x-ray telescope science enhancement package for the IXO (formerly Constellation) X-Ray mission, a Low-Energy Telescope on EXIST using a coded aperture system, and proposed optics development for the Astronomical Roentgen Telescope (ART), a 2-11 keV X-ray telescope system proposed for the Russian-led mission Spectrum Roentgen-Gamma (SRG), and testing and calibration of the flight optics for Simbol-X, a focusing hard (0.5-80 keV) X-ray telescope.
