The Astronomy Initiative for Math and Science (AIMS) is a
workshop for local high schoolers grades 10-12 who have an
interest in astronomy, other sciences, or just learning in
general. The meetings are held bi-weekly at the Oscar Mason
Center in Huntsville, Alabama. At these meetings, the students
will participate in activities and seminars to help expand their
minds and their testing abilities. They will learn different ways
to enhance their intellectual expertise by identifying and
improving upon their own weaknesses, therefore developing better
study skills.
Different Teams of NASA scientists and trained educators will be
running the show by showing seminars about asorted astronomical
topics and having the students review the information. By the end
of the workshop the students will have developed a "research
question" to be their final project of the program.
All of this couldn't be pulled off without the amazing
leadership of our very own
Mitzi Adams
(mitzi.adams @ nasa.gov), NASA solar astronomer.
