Who is Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO) Project Science?
The
X-Ray Astronomy Group
at NASA's Marshall Spaceflight Center provides scientific/technical
support to the CXO Project on a day to day basis. Chandra was formerly
known as the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility (AXAF).
The CXO Project Scientist is
Dr. Martin Weisskopf.
For some very nice pictures of CXO and CXO science instruments as
well as a brief discussion of CXO's scientific capabilities, see this
Presentation to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
by the Deputy Project Scientist, Dr. Steve O'Dell.
Here is a more recent photo
of the Chandra Project Scientist with Tony Lavoie, a former Chandra Project
Manager.
