The following table contains x-ray line energies and linewidths,
including those for the elements and compounds that comprise the XSS
EIPS targets.
The line energies were taken from Bearden (1967).
Krause and Oliver (1979) have provided
semi-empirical linewidths based on the sum of the level widths involved
in the particular line transitions.
These estimates, however, do not include line-broadening caused by
collective effects expected in the solid targets of the EIPS.
Salem and Lee
(1976) provided a least-squares fit to the existing linewidth data for K and
L lines, for elements of even values of Z from 20 through 96, including
solid-state line-broadening. Since this work there have been additional
precision measurements of linewidths (many of these are for Z < 40) which we use
to supplant earlier data (e.g. Parratt (1933); Allison,
etc.) used in Salem and Lee's fit that may have systematic errors, or did not
quote an uncertainty in their stated value. In this table we provide the precision
measured values of the linewidths in the published literature. Where more than
one precision measurement exists for a line, we provide the error-weighted mean
of these values. Values that have no accompanying uncertainty are measured values in
which no uncertainty was quoted; such values represent the only published widths
for these given lines. An arithmetic mean is provided for lines with several such
measurements.
